One of my favorite pastimes when there isn’t anything pressing to do is to look for light in everyday places.  The smallest moments in time can present as strikingly beautiful when you look for light.

The smallest moment can present as strikingly beautiful.

"In visual perception a color is never seen as it really is...making color the most relative medium in art." - Josef Albers

Sometimes, beauty can be found in the smallest details.  A brushstroke.  A simple melody.  The sound of laughter.  A play of light.

"Photography helps people to see." - Berenice Abbott

Intricacies are simplified through attention to detail.  Fragments are the foundation of the entire image.  Move close to things and frame them in exciting new ways.  Always seek to tell a story; a story of color and a story of light.

The smallest combinations of light inhabit the world around us.

"Art is a fruit that grows in a man, like a fruit on a plant, or a child in its mother's womb." - Jean Arp

"Modernity is the transient, the fleeting, the contingent; it is one half of art, the other being the eternal and the immovable." - Charles Beaudelaire

"If art has a purpose, it is to interpret life, reproduce it in fresh visions." - Catherine Drinker Bowen

"It is the space inside that gives the drum its sound." - Unknown Author

"Then he told the news media the strange details of his death." - Anne Sexton

Sunlight, a handrail, some shadows and the floor. Beauty is where you look for it.

Light is the essential foundation of imagery.  Without light, there is no image.
